DMZ Peace Trail
The DMZ Peace Trail was established in Paju, Cheolwon, and Goseong to allow the public to visit the DMZ. The project aims to promote the development and prosperity of the border areas and to provide conditions for turning the DMZ into a peace zone while solidifying peace in the DMZ in accordance with the 2018 agreement between the leaders of the two Koreas. The Trail starting from the Goseong section in April 2019 and was expanded to Cheolwon in June and Paju in August.
The previous administrations have been working to transform the DMZ into a peace zone. The Moon administration inherited that effort and has continued it.
The DMZ, bearing the pain of division, is the world’s last war-induced national division and at the same time is a reservoir of biodiversity with a rich ecosystem. The DMZ has been the scene of severe confrontation on the Korean Peninsula and is a heavily armed area that risks of military conflict. As a result, civilians only have limited access to this area. You may make a reservation on the website below to visit the DMZ Peace Trail.
